MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) started its Manitoulin Island Chapter in April of 2004.

Our mission is simple…

To stop impaired driving and support victims of this preventable crime.
The consequences of driving drunk are more than losing your license you could take someone’s life.

James Senior (20 years old) was a short cab ride from home the early hours of Jan. 23rd, 2003. Instead he got into the car with his friend Ian, who he had been drinking with. They made it three blocks from the bar when Ian crashed into a parked tractor trailer. Ian received 4 stitches. James spent 10 weeks in hospital. He has recovered from the multiple facial fractures and brain swelling, but had been left legally blind and on medication for the remainder of his life. It was all avoidable. Make plans and find another way home. Drive safe. Drive sober.
