U.C.C.M. Tribal Council Responsibilities :

The United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin (U.C.C.M.) Tribal Council is located in M’Chigeeng First Nation, on Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada. The U.C.C.M. Tribal Council was formed to protect the interests and rights of its member First Nations, to foster the social and economic well being of its members, and to refine and promote good government and administration.

The U.C.C.M. Tribal Council Board of Directors exercises overall responsibility for the delivery of policing services and programs within the U.C.C.M. Anishnaabe Police Service Area. The Tribal Council is a tripartite signatory to the UCCM Policing Agreement, which is the funding mechanism which the Service receives its operational funds.

The U.C.C.M. Tribal Council Board of Directors appoints the members serving on the U.C.C.M. Police Services Commission (police board). One member of the U.C.C.M. Tribal Council Board of Directors may serve as a non voting member and serve as a liaison between the U.C.C.M. Tribal Council Board and the U.C.C.M. Police Services Commission.

The U.C.C.M Tribal Council Board of Directors also appoints individuals to serve on the U.C.C.M. Citizens Review Committee, which has now been named Enaag-dawaab-jig.
