UCCM Police Issue Public Safety Notification

High Risk Offender– United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin Anishnaabe Police, is releasing information regrading a high-risk offender who has recently moved back to the Manitoulin Island area.

 The UCCM Anishnaabe Police is advising residents of Manitoulin Island area that Anthony Troy DEBASSIGE 38 years, will be taking up residence on the M’Chigeeng First Nation. He has previous convictions for Assault Police, Assault x 2, Fail to Appear, Fail to comply with Probation Order x 2, Fail to Attend Court, Mischief under 5,000. , Sexual Assault x 2, and Sexual Interference.

Upon completing his custodial sentence on September 26th , 2013, Anthony Troy Debassige entered into an 810.1 Criminal Code Recognizance to abide by certain conditions at Gore Bay Court on September 27th 2013.

Specific details surrounding his 810.1 Criminal Code Recognizance are:

  • Have no contact-including communication by any means – with a person under the age of 16 years with the exception that the offender may communicate with his biological child through the internet if free from the effects of alcohol and drugs.
  • Do not use the internet or other digital network unless under the immediate supervision of an adult.
  • Remain within the Districts of Manitoulin or Sudbury unless you obtain the prior written permission of the Ontario Court of Justice.
  • Remain in your residence daily between the hours of 11:00 pm and 6:00 am.
  • Abstain from the consumption of alcohol or non-prescription drugs.
  • Report to the U.C.C.M. Police once per month.
  • Advise U.C.C.M. Police 24 hours in advance of any change of address or employment.
  • Do not be alone with a person under the age of 16 years old.
  • Attend and actively participate in treatment for alcohol and substance abuse treatment and provide proof of compliance to the U.C.C.M. Police Service.
  • Not to be in the presence of any woman or child while that woman or child is under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other intoxicants.
  • Report the name and address of any person with whom he enters into an intimate relationship.

Anthony Troy Debassige is described as a First Nation male, 5′ 9” tall, approximately 221 lbs, brown eyes and black hair.
