M’Chigeeng Drug Investigation Results in Charges

On Monday the 12th of June 2013, members of the U.C.C.M. Anishnaabe Police Service and the Sudbury OPP Drug Enforcement Unit conducted an investigation into the trafficking of Cannabis Marihuana in the M’Chigeeng First Nation on Manitoulin Island.

As a result of the investigation a Scott Michael ROY (41) has been charged with:

Possession of a controlled substance included in schedule II, to wit: Cannabis Marihuana, for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

This investigation is part of an on-going initiative by members of the Sudbury OPP Drug Enforcement Unit, U.C.C.M. Anishnaabe Police Service, Espanola City Police and the Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service, Joint Forces Operation, to address the increase in crime and drug related activity.
