** UCCM Police Seize Over 12 Grand in Cocaine **

Officers of the UCCM Anishnaabe Police Service made a substantial cocaine seizure this past weekend.  On Friday May 6th, 2016 at approximately 8:00 p.m., a vehicle was stopped on Highway 540, just entering the M’Chigeeng First Nation.  A search of the vehicle was conducted and approximately 125 grams of cocaine was located inside the vehicle.  Subsequently a male and female occupant of the vehicle was arrested.  Both occupants of the vehicle were taken into police custody and were before the Courts on Saturday morning for an audio remand hearing.  Both accused have been released on strict bail conditions.

Charged are:  35 year old Lee Earl TAIBOSSIGAI of the M’Chigeeng First Nation and 30 year old Katarina DJELETOVIC of Scarborough, Ontario.  Both have been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The estimated street value of the drugs is ($12,500) Twelve Thousand, Five Hundred.

Police are reminding the public that ingesting any form of drug is very dangerous.  In most cases, the source of the drug is probably not known to the user. Many times people that are dealing the drugs “cut” the drug or mix it with unknown toxic chemicals in order to create more products.  Persons ingesting these substances have often become ill or died as a result of using the drug.  The safest form of drug use is no drug use at all.

Police urge the public to report any suspicious drug activity to the UCCM Anishnaabe Police Service at 705-377-7135 or to the Sudbury Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (or text at 274637).
