On Monday the 25th of March 2013, members of the U.C.C.M. Anishnaabe Police Service, Sudbury OPP Drug Enforcement Unit, Espanola City Police and the Wikwemikong Tribal Police conducted an investigation into the trafficking of prescription medication in the M’Chigeeng First Nation on Manitoulin Island.
As a result of the investigation a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant to search was executed at a residence in the M’Chigeeng First Nation.
John Peter ANWHATIN (50) has been charged with:
· Possession of a controlled substance included in schedule I, to wit: Fentanyl, for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
· Possession of a controlled substance included in schedule I, to wit: Oxycodone, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
and will appear in Gore Bay Court on Monday the 27th of May 2013.
This investigation is part of an on-going initiative by members of the Sudbury OPP Drug Enforcement Unit, U.C.C.M. Anishnaabe Police Service, Espanola City Police and the Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service, Joint Forces Operation, to address the increase in crime and drug related activity.
