4 Individuals Charged with Multiple Drug and Firearms Related Offences

On February 26, 2026, members of the UCCM Anishnaabe Police Service, while conducting general patrol, initiated a traffic stop on Highway 540 within M’Chigeeng First Nation. During the investigation it was determined that two of the four occupants within the vehicle were wanted on outstanding arrest warrants and were taken into custody without incident.
Officers conducted a search of the vehicle incident to arrest and located a loaded 9mm handgun, which was subsequently seized. Officers also located and seized suspected psilocybin, cannabis and cocaine. The estimated street value of the substances seized is approximately $6,920.00.

The accused individuals appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice and were remanded into custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for February 27, 2026.

Kapeshan KANDEEPAN (19) of Scarborough, Ontario is charged with:
• 4 x 117.01(1) CC Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order
• 129(a) CC Obstruct Peace Officer
• 4 x 733.1(1) CC Fail to Comply with Probation Order
• 86(1) CC Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
• 88 CC Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• 91(1) CC Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
• 92(1) CC Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• 92(2) CC Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
• 94 CC Occupant of a Motor Vehicle knowing there was a Firearm
• 95(1) CC Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted Firearm
• 4(1) CDSA Possession of a Schedule III Substance
• 5(2) CDSA Possession of a Schedule I Substance

Felicia WABEGIJIK (36) of Sheshegwaning First Nation is charged with:
• 4 x 117.01(1) CC Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order
• 2 x 145(4)(a) Fail to Comply with Undertaking
• 86(1) CC Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
• 88 CC Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• 91(1) CC Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
• 92(1) CC Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• 92(2) CC Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
• 94 CC Occupant of a Motor Vehicle knowing there was a Firearm
• 95(1) CC Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted Firearm
• 12(1) CCA2017 Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
• 4(1) CDSA Possession of a Schedule III Substance
• 5(2) CDSA Possession of a Schedule I Substance

Leanne SAGON (40) of Zhiibaahaasing First Nation is charged with:
• 86(1) CC Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
• 88 CC Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• 91(1) CC Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
• 92(1) CC Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• 92(2) CC Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
• 94 CC Occupant of a Motor Vehicle knowing there was a Firearm
• 95(1) CC Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted Firearm
• 4(1) CDSA Possession of a Schedule III Substance
• 5(2) CDSA Possession of a Schedule I Substance

Maxwell WABEGIJIK (43) of Sheshegwaning First Nation is charged with:
• 86(1) CC Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
• 88 CC Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• 91(1) CC Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
• 92(1) CC Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• 92(2) CC Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
• 94 CC Occupant of a Motor Vehicle knowing there was a Firearm
• 95(1) CC Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted Firearm
• 4(1) CDSA Possession of a Schedule III Substance
• 5(2) CDSA Possession of a Schedule I Substance
