MAN ARRESTED ON OUTSTANDING DRUG AND FIREARM WARRANTS
UCCM Officers Take Custody of Wanted Individual with Assistance from Greater Sudbury Police Service

On Thursday, June 18, 2026, the UCCM Anishnaabe Police Service was advised by the Greater Sudbury Police Service that Jay Debassige was in their custody.
UCCM Anishnaabe Police Service had two outstanding warrants for Debassige’s arrest in connection with a previous investigation, during which he was charged with several offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The charges from that investigation include:
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking;
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- Possession of an imitation firearm;
- Failure to comply with a release order;
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
- Possession of property obtained by crime; and
- Possession of a prohibited device.
Members of the UCCM Anishnaabe Police Service attended the Greater Sudbury Police Service, took custody of Debassige, and arrested him on the outstanding warrants before transporting him to the UCCM Police Service Detachment.
Debassige was held in custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice.
The charges before the court have not been proven. The accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The UCCM Anishnaabe Police Service recognizes the importance of keeping the community informed as investigations progress. The Service also extends its appreciation to community members who provided information and assistance throughout this investigation. Public cooperation remains an important part of locating individuals wanted by the courts and helping to ensure the safety of our communities.
As this matter is now before the courts, no further information will be released at this time.
