UCCM Police issue shelter-in-place for residents of Balsam Street area

The UCCM Anishnaabe Police Service, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police, is currently responding to an active police incident in the area of Balsam Street in Sheshegwaning First Nation.

As a precaution, residents in the immediate area are being asked to shelter in place while police continue to safely resolve the incident.

Residents are asked to:

  • Remain inside their homes if they are in the immediate area.
  • Lock all doors and windows.
  • Do not approach the police scene.
  • Avoid the area and follow any directions provided by responding officers.

At this time, there is no known threat to the general public outside the immediate area. Police are asking everyone to stay away from the scene to allow officers to safely carry out their duties. This remains an active police investigation. Additional information will be released when it is appropriate to do so.
